Proskills

Proskills is one of a network of 25 employer-led Sector Skills Councils tasked by the governments of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland with ensuring employers have people with the right skills to boost productivity and competitiveness. Proskills is the Sector Skills Council for the Process and Manufacturing sector, a major part of the UK economy, including the Coatings, Extractives and Minerals Processing, Glassmaking, Furniture Making, Building Products, Glazed Ceramics, Papermaking and Printing industries. The UK printing industry is a vibrant and essential part of the UK economy, serving all areas of commerce and leisure by producing a vast range of products that are an essential part of everyday life. Proskills is committed to identifying the skills that the industry needs for a sustainable and profitable future; setting and driving up standards of courses and qualifications; and influencing funding and investment in skills and training.

Scottish Government

The devolved government for Scotland is responsible for most of the issues of day-to-day concern to the people of Scotland, including health, education, justice, rural affairs, and transport.

The Montgomery Litho Group

Montgomery Litho Group (MLG), is Scotland’s largest and most technologically advanced print facility.
MLG has sites across the central belt of Scotland in Glasgow, Perth and Haddington, providing fantastic distribution channels and economies of scale.
Throughout the company a variety of services is offered including: litho and digital printing, a complete range of print finishing together with direct mail and marketing services.

British Association for Print and Communication

The British Association for Print and Communication is the leading Trade Association for the creative industry and aims to cultivate a “community of print” that acts as a forum for the graphic arts industry to work together for mutual benefit.

British Printing Industries Federation

The British Printing Industries Federation is the principal business support organisation for the UK print, printed packaging and graphic communications industries and is one of the UK’s leading trade associations.

Scottish Qualifications Authority

The Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) is the national accreditation and awarding body in Scotland.
SQA works in partnership with schools, colleges, universities and industry to provide high quality, flexible and relevant qualifications and assessments – embedding industry standards where appropriate. We strive to ensure that SQA qualifications are inclusive, accessible to all, that they provide clear progression pathways, facilitate lifelong learning and recognise candidate achievement. SQA is ambitious for Scotland, determined to play a full and committed part in ensuring that the Scottish people and economy benefit from a qualifications system that is all-embracing and delivering and meeting Scotland’s needs.

Graphic Enterprise Scotland

Print employers in Scotland have been organised as a Federation since 1910 and next year’s centenary will be marked by the publishing of a book of its history.
Throughout this 100 years the Federation has had several names and the current one reflects the changing nature of print communications, driven by technological developments such as the internet and digital printing. Members are offered services such as labour and employment law advice, the management of the Scottish Training Scheme for modern apprenticeships, health and safety audits and advice on environmental and quality accreditation. Future services will include small business advice covering such topics as cash management, market segmentation and key account management and cost rate assessment.
Graphic Enterprise Scotland also represents Scottish employers in the annual negotiation of the National Agreement with the trade union, Unite.

Fairtrade Foundation

The Fairtrade Foundation is an independent body that awards the FAIRTRADE Mark to products which meet international Fairtrade standards. The FAIRTRADE Mark is an independent consumer label which appears on products as a guarantee that disadvantaged producers are getting a better deal. Today more than 7.5 million farmers, workers and their families across 56 developing countries benefit from the international Fairtrade system.

Paperco

PaperCo is acknowledged as one of the UK’s leading paper merchants with a national network of distribution centres offering a diverse range of papers, boards and other printing substrates, packaging supplies and print consumables. An approved supplier to Government, PaperCo holds both FSC and PEFC chain of custody certification and offers an extensive portfolio of recycled grades.
